Men's Day 2006 Church Service

Vision Statement
The Men’s Ministry’s goal is to train and equip (disciple) men to be spiritual leaders in their families, church, and community. “For once you’ve changed the man, you’ve changed the family.”

Purpose
The Men’s Ministry owants to create an environment in which men can grow and be more effective in their families, spiritual walk, work, and communities.  Through small groups, men meet on a regular basis for bible study, prayer, discussion, accountability, and restoration.

Men's Sunday School
9:45am in the Dream Center

Men’s Sunday school class is designed to help men focus on discipleship and basic biblical principles of godly living.

Bible Study for MEN ONLY
Thursdays at 7:00pm in the C.R. Neal Dream Center

Men’s Bible Study is designed for men to study “real” topics that men face in their daily walk with Christ.  This study focuses on helping men discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual power, by living a consistently, holy lifestyle.

Saturday Morning Prayer
7:00am in the Memorial Chapel

Men’s Intercessory prayer is a sensitive and responsive hour of prayer and intercession for others.  Men join together every Saturday at 7 a.m. in the Memorial chapel to pray for family, church, friends and their issues.

Annual Awards Ceremony
Each year, the Men’s Ministry comes together in a banquet-style environment to fellowship, appreciate, and acknowledge men doing great works in the church and community. In 2005, the Men’s Ministry hosted a Pioneer Awards Ceremony honoring local heroes in the community, who pioneered career paths for African Americans in Columbia, South Carolina. Honorees included Luther Barnes and Sunset Jubilaires, Kay Patterson, Jim Felder, I.S. Leevy Johnson, Julius Murray and George Wilson.

Men's Citywide Prayer Breakfast
Starting the year off with prayer is tantamount to the Men’s Ministry at the Bible Way Church of Atlas Road. Each January, a Men’s Prayer Breakfast is hosted to bring together all the men of the church and community in fellowship. Speakers from the church and the community give an inspirational message. Speakers for the Citywide Prayer Breakfast include Juan Bolton from The State newspaper, Columbia City Manager Charles Austin, Senior Pastor Darrell Jackson, Sr., and others.

Annual Retreat
In 2006, the Men’s Ministry instituted an annual retreat, for prayer, support, and relaxation. Past retreats include trips to Savannah Lakes in McCormick, South Carolina; fishing, hiking, and boating; the Holy Land Exhibit and theme parks and Cape Canaveral in Florida; and in 2007, the men will retreat to Atlanta, Georgea. They will tour the CNN building, the Georgia Dome, K&G’s Men’s Wear and other local attractions.
